Cleaning deeper than the surface

When our intention is to eradicate the pests that harm us from our home, it is important to take care of orderliness and cleanliness. It is worth maintaining good order in your home with sensible storage solutions and cleaning equipment and products.

When we started the fight against long-tailed silverfish, it was important to make the places as clean, clear and easy to clean as possible. The project began by clearing all possible things away, especially on the floors, but also on other surfaces.

We had just moved when we spotted the long-tailed silverfish. Therefore, we still had a lot of things in moving boxes and for this reason it made sense not to even unpack all the boxes. We started using only the most necessary items. The others were allowed to stay in the warehouse we rented.

Anything recyclable that attracts long-tailed silverfish and silverfish always had to be taken out of the apartment immediately. These kinds of things to take away include recycled paper and cardboard waste, because long-tailed silverfish like to eat paper and cardboard.

We took the entire bio waste container out of use for the most acute phase, because food is very suitable for both long-tailed silverfish and silverfish. Especially starchy foods such as potatoes and potato peelings attract long-tailed silverfish.

In the context of this kind of large-scale cleaning, it is good to take a critical look at your own closets. Most of the time, they contain a lot of things that you don’t really need anymore. And the best time to recycle unnecessary items is the moment when you clarify and tidy up the look of your home anyway.

The numerous crafts and drawings of children that are so dear to me are often made of paper. Of course, I didn’t want to put them away, so I stored them in very tight plastic boxes with lids. I chose the boxes with the intention of making them transparent so that you  could immediately see what they contained. I did the same for everything made of paper that I couldn’t or didn’t want to dispose of for one reason or another.

When choosing a box, it is also worth noting the fact that they can be neatly and relatively firmly stacked on top of each other.

The fight against the long-tailed silverfish is frustrating at the beginning and you have to put a lot of effort into eradicating them. But in the end a lot of good things will come out of it. It comes down to getting rid of all unnecessary things, which in turn clarifies the whole home and clears your own feelings and mind as well. And who knows what you’re going to do and what you’re still excited to do once you’ve got your own home in great condition and shine. A clear home also brings clarity to the mind and increases overall well-being and comfort.

I really like that the places are well organized and I can find the items when I need them. It is also sensible and efficient in terms of time management.

It is much easier to maintain order when there is a place for all things. Personally, I prefer convenient space dividers in the cleaning cupboards and drawers. With their help, you can form neat and clear places in cabinets, drawers and shelves. Here are tried and tested storage solutions and space dividers.

When considering storage solutions and their materials, it is also worth considering cleanability and utilization rate. Here are more tried and tested storage solutions and space dividers.

It is worth remembering that although cleaning alone will not be able to eradicate the pests that have spread to your home like silverfish or long-tailed silverfish, by cleaning them you can effectively prevent them from spreading.

When cleaning, you remove, for example, eggs of silverfish or long-tailed silverfish, which can be difficult to detect with the bare eye. Also, the long-tailed silverfish in the calving stage are really pale and small. With my own experience, I can say that they are almost impossible to notice on the floor. For this reason, daily cleaning is very important, especially in the early stages.

As a reminder, if you have ordered a pest control for your home, be sure to ask for instructions etc. for cleaning. For example, we were not allowed to wash the edges of the floor molding at all. Only vacuuming was allowed. Just before the next visit by the pest controller, it was also allowed to wash the floors from the areas where the poison had been applied.

The poisons of pest controllers are really long-lasting. Even after a couple of months spreading of poisons there may appear dead long-tailed silverfish. Especially in the early stages dead long-tailed silverfish appeared because they were so abundant.
